Colon Cancer Presentation
March is National Colon Cancer Month and Avera Queen of Peace is sponsoring a special program on Thursday, March 18, at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room at Avera Queen of Peace. Dennis Leland, MD, a General Surgeon with Avera Mitchell Surgical, will provide information on colon cancer, the risk factors, signs and symptoms, as well as screening guidelines and treatment. Linda Bartl, Registered Dietitian with the Avera Queen of Peace Nutrition Services Department, will present information on healthy food choices and Dave Christenson, a colon cancer survivor, will talk about his experience with cancer. Educational materials will be available and free take-home colon cancer screening kits will be distributed to the attendees. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions of Dr. Leland, Linda Bartl, and Dave Christenson.
Those attending are asked to please use the Community Room entrance located on the west end of the hospital, closest to the Wellness Center. The Community Room is on the lower level.
